Dragon Ball Z characters Goku and Vegeta just made a shock appearance in MAPPA's new Oblivion Battery anime, making a cameo in Episode 3.

Dragon Ball Z characters Goku and Vegeta just made a surprise appearance in MAPPA's new Oblivion Battery anime that began airing this Spring 2024 season, with the pair making a cameo in the third episode.

Clips of Oblivion Battery are going viral on social media after a cut from Episode 3 showcases baseball catcher Kei Kaname going Super Saiyan, transforming into Goku and then Vegeta as he lets off a massive ki blast parting the sky. Fans can check out the video and reactions to the Dragon Ball reference below.

Dragon Ball Z Often Makes Cameo Appearances in Other Anime

As one of the most influential anime series of all time, Dragon Ball Z references usually go over very well with fans. Earlier this year, Burn the Witch fans noticed the Dragon Ball Z theme song playing as Noel Niihashi's ringtone, while the same episode also featured a nod to Sailor Moon. CBR's 10 Blatant Dragon Ball References In Other Anime dives into other examples, from lesser-known slice-of-life titles to the most popular shonen titles.

Fans can likely expect more Dragon Ball references soon following Akira Toriyama's unfortunate passing last month. With his death on March 1 coming deep in the production process for most Spring 2024 titles, fans can expect many more Summer 2024 titles to honor his legacy, while the 35th anniversary of the Dragon Ball Z anime takes place in just three days, on April 26, 2024.
