One Piece Goes on Month-Long Hiatus
After the latest major development in the "Egghead" story arc, the One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda will once again undergo a one-month hiatus.
As reported by social media X user @/newworldartur, the March 25 release of One Piece Chapter 1111 will be the last new chapter for the time being. The manga, written and illustrated by Oda, will be on break from April 1-15. Chapter 1112 will be released on April 22. However, the series will then be on break again with the rest of Weekly Shonen Jump for the Japanese holiday known as Golden Week.
One Piece Chapters 1112 and 1113 Will Not Be Released Until April and May
May 6 is the expected release date for Chapter 1113. Presumably, the One Piece manga will resume its weekly serialization from there. No reason for the one-month delay was announced. However, in the past, Oda has put One Piece on hold for periods lasting a few weeks to a month. A previous one-month hiatus was done to give Oda time to map out the final storyline, while another was done so he could recover from his eye surgery.
Even with periods of rest and for someone as talented as Oda, the tight deadlines for a Shonen Jump manga artist can be extreme. The initial release of One Piece Chapter 1098 featured unfinished artwork from Oda, who failed to meet the deadline for the first time in the series' history. The artwork was later corrected for One Piece Volume 108, currently on sale in Japan.
